Institutional Signal Edition • Version 1.0

Primary market

Nasdaq-100 E-mini / Micro futures (NQ / MNQ)

Signal timeframe

1 minute

Primary event

09:30 New York cash open

Frozen quality gate

Event range / pre-event ATR(14) ≥ 3.00x

DESIGN INTENT

A mechanical, event-driven continuation framework built to identify abnormal opening repricing rather than chase ordinary intraday momentum. The indicator evaluates only confirmed event bars and uses pre-event information for its volatility benchmark.

Status: Pine research specification frozen after multi-year robustness testing. The indicator is a decision-support and alerting layer; it does not execute trades.

1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

FPT Continuation Core Omega is a one-minute, event-driven signal framework designed around a simple market microstructure idea: the cash open can force rapid institutional repricing away from the market’s pre-event resting price. The system does not trade every open. It trades only when the opening event is both mechanically clean and abnormally large relative to the volatility that existed before the event.

The framework was developed from Fair Pricing Theory and then narrowed through evidence. The original mean-reversion branch was quarantined after longer-horizon testing showed persistent negative expectancy. The production research candidate is therefore continuation-only.

THE FROZEN THESIS

When the 09:30 New York opening candle shows strong directional displacement, breaks nearby pre-event structure, has a dominant real body, limited opposing wick, and is at least 3.0x the pre-event ATR(14), continuation has historically exhibited materially better quality than weaker opening displacements.

2. CORE LOGIC

2.1 Fair Price Anchor

For the standard NY Cash Open mode, Fair Price is the close of the one-minute bar immediately preceding 09:30 New York time. On a normal trading day, this is the 09:29 bar close. The level becomes the reference against which the opening repricing event is judged.

2.2 Opening Event

The 09:30 one-minute candle is the event candle. The indicator waits for that bar to close before any signal is confirmed. A BUY requires the event to expand upward; a SELL requires the event to expand downward.

2.3 Mechanical Qualification

Gate

Frozen default

Purpose

Directional candle

Close agrees with displacement

Rejects candles whose body fights the apparent expansion.

Minimum displacement

≥ 10 NQ points

Avoids negligible repricing.

Body / range

≥ 60%

Requires the real body to dominate the candle.

Opposing wick / range

≤ 25%

Rejects heavy rejection against the signal direction.

Minor structure

3-bar causal lookback

Requires a close beyond nearby pre-event structure.

ATR quality

Event range / pre-event ATR(14) ≥ 3.00x

Restricts signals to abnormal repricing events.

2.4 Signal Decision

BUY is produced only when every base continuation gate passes and the opening event closes above Fair Price with an ATR quality score of at least 3.00x. SELL is the mirror condition below Fair Price. If any gate fails, the dashboard displays STAND ASIDE and identifies the relevant blocker.

2.5 Reference Risk Map

The indicator plots a reference 50-point stop and 75-point target from the confirmed signal price. These levels reflect the frozen research candidate. They are reference levels only in the indicator; no order is transmitted.

3. WHY THE DESIGN IS INSTITUTIONAL-GRADE

“Institutional-grade” here describes the engineering discipline of the framework, not an endorsement by any institution. The indicator is built around several principles commonly expected in professional systematic research:

·       Event-defined logic: the model trades a specific repricing event instead of continuously scanning for arbitrary patterns.

·       Causal inputs: the ATR denominator is frozen from the bar before the event, preventing the opening shock from inflating its own quality score.

·       Confirmed-bar decisions: signals are generated after the event candle closes, not from intrabar guesses.

·       Multi-gate qualification: direction, displacement, candle quality, structure and volatility abnormality must agree.

·       Holiday suppression: standard U.S. equity full-day holidays are excluded from the NY cash-open event.

·       Unified alert transport: one alert stream carries both BUY and SELL decisions with optional structured JSON.

·       Risk-map consistency: every confirmed signal is presented with the same validated 50/75 reference bracket.

·       Research separation: weak or unvalidated branches were removed rather than blended into the final indicator.

·       Minimal live dashboard: the panel shows only decision-relevant state rather than backtest vanity metrics.

IMPORTANT

The system is intentionally simple at the live decision layer. Complexity belongs in research and controls; the trader-facing screen should answer only whether the current opening event is qualified, why, and where the reference risk lies.

4. BEST ASSETS AND MARKET SUITABILITY

4.1 Tier 1 — Recommended / Validated

Asset

Status

Use

NQ — Nasdaq-100 E-mini

Primary validated market

Best match to the research specification. Use the 1-minute chart and 09:30 New York cash open.

MNQ — Micro E-mini Nasdaq-100

Preferred smaller contract

Same underlying index behavior with smaller dollar value. Signal logic should track NQ closely; execution costs and contract economics differ.

4.2 Tier 2 — Logical Research Candidates, Not Yet Validated

Market

Why it may fit

What must change before live use

ES / MES

Deep liquidity and the same 09:30 U.S. cash-open repricing event.

Re-test point thresholds, ATR distribution and the 50/75 bracket; NQ point values must not be copied blindly.

DAX / FDAX / FDXM

Strong local cash-open auction and concentrated European liquidity.

Use the local cash-open event and local holiday calendar. Current indicator timing is NY-based; dedicated localization is preferable.

Nikkei 225 futures

Clear regional session transition and event-driven opening behavior.

Use the appropriate Tokyo/Osaka session anchor and re-validate volatility normalization.

FTSE futures

Defined cash open and liquid index ecosystem.

Localize event time, holiday rules and risk distances.

Gold GC / MGC

Institutional repricing often clusters around COMEX transitions and major U.S. macro releases.

Do not treat 09:30 equity cash open as automatically optimal. Test 08:20 COMEX, 08:30 macro and other event anchors independently.

Silver SI / SIL

Similar event sensitivity to gold, but higher noise and thinner depth.

Requires separate calibration and stronger friction testing.

CURRENT WEBSITE POSITIONING

For the present v1.0 indicator, market it as an NQ/MNQ signal engine. Other indices and metals are portability candidates, not validated presets. That distinction protects both research integrity and users.

5. TIMEFRAMES AND SESSION REQUIREMENTS

Use

Timeframe

Guidance

Signal generation

1 minute only

Required. The logic and validation are built on the one-minute event candle.

Context / discretionary review

15m–4H optional

May be used visually, but must not be allowed to override the frozen signal rules unless separately tested.

Higher-timeframe filter

Not active in v1.0

Deliberately excluded from the validated indicator. Optional HTF filtering belongs in later research or the cTrader protection layer.

Daily / weekly

Context only

Useful for understanding regime and major levels, not for generating FPT signals.

A signal is confirmed at the close of the 09:30 event bar. On a one-minute chart this means the decision becomes available at approximately 09:31 New York time.

6. BEST SETTINGS

DO NOT OPTIMIZE LIVE

The 3.00x ATR gate is not presented as a magic optimum. It was selected because 2.5x, 3.0x and 3.5x all survived robustness testing, while 3.0x offered the best balance of trade quality, frequency and drawdown. Avoid changing it because of a recent losing streak.

9. UNIFIED ALERTS

Create one TradingView alert using the condition “Any alert() function call.” The indicator then routes both BUY and SELL signals through the same alert object. Alerts are emitted once per confirmed event-bar close.

1.     Add FPT Continuation Core Omega v1.0 to an NQ or MNQ 1-minute chart.

2.     Open Create Alert.

3.     Select the indicator, then choose “Any alert() function call.”

4.     Choose the desired notification channel or webhook URL.

5.     Leave Webhook-Ready JSON enabled if a downstream router, bot or logging service will consume the signal.

6.     Do not create separate BUY and SELL alerts unless a downstream system specifically requires separate routes.

ALERT CONTENT

The dynamic payload can include direction, ticker, timeframe, signal price, Fair Price, event range, ATR quality score, candle-quality statistics, and reference SL/TP. This makes the alert suitable for logging, routing and later cTrader integration.

10. BEST PRACTICES

10.1 Before the Open

·       Use a clean 1-minute NQ or MNQ chart with the intended CME data feed.

·       Confirm the indicator is set to NY Cash Open and the holiday filter is ON.

·       Do not alter the frozen parameters immediately before the event.

·       Know whether major macro data is scheduled near the open; unusual release conditions may materially increase slippage.

·       Ensure the alert is active before 09:30 New York time if alerts are part of the workflow.

10.2 At Signal Time

·       Wait for the confirmed BUY or SELL label. Do not front-run the 09:30 candle.

·       Use the dashboard to verify ATR Quality, Candle and Structure all support the decision.

·       Treat the reference SL/TP as the validated map, not as a promise of execution quality.

·       Avoid discretionary stop tightening immediately after entry; the research edge was evaluated with room for 50 points of adverse movement.

10.3 After the Event

·       Do not manufacture additional signals later in the session. The v1.0 signal is an opening-event model.

·       Record alert timestamp, signal price and actual fill if trading manually or through automation.

·       Review slippage separately from strategy quality. A good signal can be degraded by poor execution.

·       Do not change thresholds based on a handful of recent trades.

11. COMMON MISTAKES

Mistake

Why it matters

Running the indicator on 5m, 15m or another timeframe

The event definition, ATR distribution and validation are all one-minute specific.

Taking signals before bar close

The framework is confirmed-bar and causal; intrabar anticipation is a different strategy.

Using 50/75 on ES, DAX, gold or other assets without testing

Those are NQ point distances, not universal volatility units.

Turning off the holiday filter for routine use

Historical research deliberately removed invalid cash-open events on full-day U.S. equity holidays.

Lowering the ATR gate after missed trades

That reintroduces the weaker displacement population the robustness process filtered out.

Adding HTF/VWAP filters ad hoc

Any new filter changes the strategy and requires a new evidence cycle.

Treating continuous-contract backtests as identical to live fills

Rolls, feed differences, spread and latency can change live execution.

12. RESEARCH EVIDENCE SNAPSHOT

The frozen continuation candidate was evaluated on multi-year one-minute NQ history with commission and slippage assumptions, chronological segmentation, threshold perturbation and higher-friction stress. Historical results are research evidence only and do not guarantee future performance.

Research test

Observed result

Baseline candidate

214 trades • +$56,905 • PF 1.537 • 50.93% winners • 8.49% intrabar max DD.

2.50x threshold perturbation

233 trades • PF 1.493 • remained profitable across represented years.

3.50x threshold perturbation

194 trades • PF 1.450 • 7.65% intrabar DD.

Pre-split segment

134 trades • PF 1.525.

Post-split segment

80 trades • PF 1.556.

Recent 365-day segment

78 trades • PF 1.558.

Severe-friction reconstruction for 3.00x candidate

Approx. PF 1.516 with $5 commission/contract/transaction and 2 ticks slippage; drawdown remained inside the 10% research envelope.

WHAT THE RESEARCH DID NOT VALIDATE

The current evidence does not validate the indicator on ES, DAX, Nikkei, FTSE, gold, silver, CFDs, spot indices, crypto or forex. It also does not validate discretionary stop movement, trailing stops, breakeven rules, higher-timeframe filters or additional entries later in the session.

13. QUICK START CHECKLIST

1.  Open NQ or MNQ on a 1-minute chart.

2.  Load FPT Continuation Core Omega v1.0.

3.  Set Pricing Event = NY Cash Open.

4.  Keep US holiday filter = ON.

5.  Keep displacement = 10 points, body/range = 0.60, opposing wick = 0.25, structure lookback = 3.

6.  Keep ATR length = 14 and ATR threshold = 3.00x.

7.  Keep the reference risk map at 50-point SL / 75-point TP.

8.  Create one alert using Any alert() function call.

9.  Wait for a confirmed BUY or SELL after the 09:30 event bar closes.

10.  If the dashboard says STAND ASIDE, do not reinterpret it into a trade.

14. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does the indicator repaint?

The signal decision is made on a confirmed event-bar close using pre-event ATR and pre-event structure. Once that bar closes, the historical signal should not change because of later bars. Real-time values can naturally evolve while the event bar is still forming, which is why the system waits for confirmation.

Why only one signal around the open?

The validated alpha is tied to the opening repricing event. Generating additional later-session entries would create a different system.

Why is Fair Price the prior one-minute close?

It is the mechanical approximation of the market’s resting price immediately before the institutional opening event.

Why use event range for the ATR score instead of only the body?

The research found that the total opening expansion relative to pre-event volatility was a useful discriminator of event quality, while body and wick ratios separately enforce directional cleanliness.

Can I use MNQ instead of NQ?

Yes for signal interpretation because both represent the same Nasdaq-100 futures complex. Dollar risk, fees and slippage must be mapped to the actual MNQ contract.

Can I use the signal on ES or gold?

Only as a research experiment. The current defaults and risk map are NQ-specific and should not be treated as validated settings elsewhere.

Should I skip longs because recent shorts were stronger?

No. Longs remained positive over the multi-year research sample. Recent directional asymmetry is a monitoring item, not a validated direction filter.

Why no VWAP or higher-timeframe filter?

Because the frozen candidate already survived the robustness gates without them. Any additional filter must earn its place through separate evidence rather than aesthetic appeal.

15. RISK AND USE DISCLAIMER

FPT Continuation Core Omega is a research and decision-support tool. It does not provide personalized investment advice and does not guarantee profitable outcomes. Futures are leveraged instruments and can generate losses greater than expected, particularly during volatile openings and scheduled news events.

Historical performance, simulated results, backtests, robustness tests and reference risk maps are not guarantees of future performance. Data-feed differences, contract rolls, latency, spread, commissions, slippage, exchange conditions and broker execution can materially change live results.

Users are responsible for determining whether the indicator, market, contract size and risk are appropriate for their circumstances and for complying with all broker, exchange, regulatory and tax requirements applicable to them.
